Helinä Rautavaara museum’s exhibition A pilgrim’s diary (24.3.–7.8.2011) presents photographs from the holy rivers of India. Pictures have been taken by a Finnish photographer Martti Anttila during his trips in India. There is one of his pictures in the cover of the notebook. It has 60 blanco pages and it has been made of recycled paper.

Women from around the world – Importing “sisu” – book

The book introduces eleven women who have lived outside Europe and moved to Finland for different reasons. The reader will learn about women’s lives, migration and it’s influences on personal and global level. The publication can be utilized for teaching. There is also a website related to the book where you can find exercises planned especially for vocational schools and immigrants who study Finnish. The book is based on a travelling exhibition which was a co-production of Kassandra multicultural arts centre, UNIFEM Finland and Helinä Rautavaara museum. The head editor of the release is Ritva Siikala and it has been executed with a contribution of Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland. The book is in Finnish, Swedish and English.

One of the most respected fabric producing companies is Vlisco from Netherlands and these fabrics are also made by it. Designers of Vlisco utilize African themes and fulfill the wishes of African female traders concerning adequate fabrics for West African market.
