World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) is observed on 2 April every year since 2008.
Finnish Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome Association brought out culture and art as an expression of autistic individuals in the Moments on the Spectrum art exhibition. The exhibition ran from 2 to 26 April at the Helinä Rautavaara Museum.
The opening of the exhibition was held on World Autism Awareness Day, April 2 at 10-12.
The exhibitions goal was to awaken people’s understanding of autism and make autism culture visible. Sharing information about autism aims to reduce prejudice and discrimination.
Founded in 1997, The Finnish Association for Autism and Asperger´s Syndrome serves autistic individuals and their families and monitors their social rights and equality in society.
